Great Plains Moving and Storage

Great Plains Moving and Storage Company has been in business in Colorado continually for over 100 years. Founded as Amick Transfer in 1896, it began as a local cartage company and evolved into a regional moving company and ultimately into the household relocation, commercial moving, logistics and storage services operation that it is today.

In 1946, the old Amick Transfer became an agent for North American Van Lines and began servicing household interstate moving and then high-value products moving beginning in the 1970s. In 1984, the Company expanded to Colorado Springs to be of service to the major military household and specialized services relocation business in that area. In 2000, Great Plains became one of the first dual branded agents in the van line system representing Allied Van Lines along with North American sales.

In 1992, Great Plains Moving and Storage moved from the original downtown warehouse to the current location at 4990 Dahlia Street. The move provides our company with an efficient layout as well as easy access to three major interstate highways.

During 2004, Great Plains Moving and Storage initiated services for Specialized Transportation Inc. (STI) and operates the Denver Distribution Center providing commercial transportation services for a wide variety of goods that require specialized inside deliveries. From computers, medical equipment, exercise equipment, internet purchases to motorcycles, the Denver DC provides an award winning final-mile moving service to homes and businesses.

Great Plains Moving and Storage is active in the Denver community providing pro bono services where and when it is appropriate and the company can help. Currently, Great Plains provides at no cost all the warehousing and delivery services needed for the Denver Race for the Cure and the Mizel Museum. In addition, Great Plains was twice honored as one of the 12 finalists for the Colorado Ethics in Business Award.
